Saint Lucia's 41st Independence Jingle by Yadel Laurent

Yadel Laurent is an energetic 24 years old, who was born and raised in the community of Jacmel. Her passion for singing started at the age of 5 years old. After attending the Corinth Secondary School, she started writing her own songs in an attempt to grow her raw skills. 

With dreams of one day becoming a professional singer, travelling the world with her positive message, Yadel has encouraged her sister Kittell Symphorien to join her in this journey. Both young ladies participated in the first Independence Song Competition in 2019, entering "Sweet Saint Lucia" produced by Runsum Records based in Anse La Raye. Although her song was not successful in the finals, it was well received, especially by the youth.

For Yadel, music provides a different meditation. It soothes and uplifts the soul. The community of Jacmel, family and friends have also been the driving force behind her achievements, and for this she is thankful. Yadel hopes to develop her singing and writing skills, and looks forward to realising her dream of singing on the big stage, under the bright lights one day.
